A few kilometers from Arezzo, in the “Val di Chiana”, lies the pretty town of Lucignano which has a special feature: watched from his urban plan looks like a maze!
The most important buildings to visit in the old town are: the “Cassero” (or Rock) and the Town Hall (symbols of the civil power); the Church of St. Francis and the Collegiate Church of San Michele Arcangelo (symbols of religious power).
In ancient times there was the ” rich” way (the present Via Matteotti), to the south, the brightest and confidentially, to the higher, where you can watch the palaces and buildings of merit for the wealthy; while the “poor” (now Via Roma), to the north, in the shade, with smaller homes and made of poor materials, were intended for the poorest classes.
In addition to Lucignano we recommend taking a walk even in neighboring villages: Monte San Savino, Marciano della Chiana, Foiano della Chiana and Sinalunga.
